Travel and visas 

By plane - Chopin Airport 

Most flights to Warsaw land at Chopin Airport, about 10 km from the city centre. 

You can get to the city centre by public transport: 

By bus/train 

  • train line S2, S3 or RL – more information 
  • bus 175 runs to the centre and around the Old Town (Stare Miasto) 
  • bus 148 or 188 run to the other side of the river, to Praga, Grochów and Gocław night
  • bus N32 runs to the city centre 

Transport tickets are required on all lines. 

By taxi 

A taxi rank in front of the Terminal offers selected and reliable taxi companies. Avoid unlicensed taxis - their fees are much higher than registered and legal taxis. 
   

By plane - Warsaw Modlin Airport 

Warsaw Modlin Airport is located around 35 km north-west from the city centre. 

By train 

  • Koleje Mazowieckie trains depart from Modlin railway station An airport shuttle bus service travels from/to the terminal with the train timetable. A special airport ticket that costs 19 PLN can be purchased in the airport terminal. More information  

By taxi 

  • The airport recommends one taxi company: Taxi Modlin. Transfers to the centre of Warsaw range from 100 to 250 PLN.  

 

Visas

Poland is a country located in the Schengen Area. Anyone travelling to and from Poland must meet the entry conditions and should be familiar with the requirements of the Schengen Agreement. Contact your embassy or consulate of Poland for details about visas, currency, customs.

Important: The new European Entry/Exit System (EES) for all non-EU nationals travelling in or out of the Schengen Area has been delayed until 2025. A specific start date hasn't been announced. 

The Entry/Exit System (EES) is an automated IT system for registering non-EU nationals travelling for a short stay (up to 90 days within any 180-day period) each time they cross the external borders of any of the following European countries using the system:
