Facilitation of the Safe and Secure Transport of Radioactive Material: a Joint Statement as a Concrete Solution

At the 69th General Conference of IAEA, France is organising and event on Facilitation of the Safe and Secure Transport of Radioactive Material: a Joint Statement as a Concrete Solution. The co-organisors for the event are Canada, Italy and World Nuclear Association (WNA). This eventaims to share the progress of the work of the Denial of Shipment Working Group (DoS WG) and in particular the draft Joint Statement it developed based on acknowledgement of the essential elements of the international regulatory framework for the safe and secure transport of radioactive material by all modes.
The (DoS WG) has been established under the auspice of the IAEA in compliance with General Conferences’ resolutions in order to find solutions to facilitate the transport of radioactive material where shipment companies and other stakeholders face difficulties to properly implement such activity.
This event will be held on Wednesday, 17 September 2025, from 5.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. in Conference Room M5, M Building, ground floor. Vienna International Centre.
