Energizing Progress: Floating nuclear plants

Updated Friday, 8 August 2025

Today, many remote communities still depend on polluting fuels like diesel and coal. Floating nuclear reactors present a scalable solution – providing clean electricity and heat to coastal and isolated communities. Built-in shipyards and rapidly deployable with minimal on-site infrastructure, these reactors reduce barriers and expand access for developing countries and new markets. The technology is proven and available today, what’s needed is international collaboration to streamline and harmonize regulatory frameworks.
