World Nuclear Association and WiN Global renew framework for cooperation

World Nuclear Association and Women in Nuclear Global (WiN Global) have renewed a memorandum of understanding setting out a voluntary framework for cooperation on leadership development, workforce capability and access to professional opportunities across the global nuclear sector.
The agreement comes as nuclear energy gains renewed momentum worldwide. Around 440 reactors operating in 31 countries provide about 9% of global electricity, while around 80 reactors are under construction and about 120 more are planned.
The renewed MoU identifies areas in which the organisations may cooperate, including engagement with relevant World Nuclear Association Working Groups, suggestions of speakers and experts, promotion of appropriate opportunities through their respective channels, and possible briefings, publications or other jointly agreed initiatives.
Dr Sama Bilbao y León, Director General of World Nuclear Association, welcomed the renewed partnership, which took place during World Nuclear Symposium.
In the Executive Plenary session "The Cornerstone of Delivery: Workforce, Leadership and Capability for the Nuclear Scale-up", Melina Belinco, President of WiN Global, said: “One of the contributions that WiN Global provides, is making expertise visible. Our technical groups of expertise are based on a simple principle. We don’t just make women visible; we make their expertise visible. Women are not only part of the nuclear conversation, but a source of expertise. Bringing women to strategic conversations, is one of the concrete practical initiatives that our global organization is providing to the industry.
