Greater Efficiency in Low-Level Radioactive Material Management

The World Nuclear Association emphasizes the importance of converging towards greater efficiency in the management of low-level radioactive material. This requires consistent strategies  and approaches between countries  for proper reuse, recycling and disposal. All domestic strategies and approaches may have cross-boundary implications. For instance, recycling steel from equipment which may be ultimately exported abroad cannot be viewed as a purely domestic choice. World Nuclear Association therefore supports further international standardization and implementation. This World Nuclear Association statement sets the stage for constructive discussions toward this international goal with a view to facilitate practical implementation at the national level.
