In its draft Power Development Plan 2024-2037 the Thai Ministry of Energy proposed two 300 MWe SMRs be constructed and operational by 2037, one in the north of the country, and one in the south.236

In April 2024, Thai company Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited (GPSC) signed a memorandum of understanding with Denmark's Seaborg Technologies (now Saltfoss Energy) to explore the potential deployment of the Compact Molten Salt Reactor (CMSR) installed on a Saltfoss Power Barge in Thailand237.
