Opening – Industrial demand and energy systems: Why nuclear is taking over strategic discussions for large energy users

This opening session sets the scene for the day, examining why nuclear energy is increasingly entering strategic conversations for large energy users globally. It frames the central challenges the workshop will explore: how governments, financial institutions, the nuclear community, and large industrial energy users can work together to turn that strategic interest into concrete deployment.

09:30 - 08:50

Keynote from Government of Türkiye

Insights from the Turkish Government on its target to reach 20GW of nuclear capacity by 2050, its roadmap to deployment, energy security priorities, and the enabling environment for industrial development.

09:50 - 10:50

Large energy users: Defining the demand curve

Representatives from energy-intensive industries set out what they need from energy systems in terms of energy services, reliability, cost, emissions, and the timelines against which decisions are being made. It explores what nuclear must deliver to meet those needs and offer credible pathways for deep decarbonisation.

10:50 - 11:20

Coffee Break & Networking

11:20 - 12:10

Türkiye: a newcomer’s nuclear journey

This session examines the country's experience building its first large-scale nuclear programme — the decisions, partnerships, and capabilities developed along the way — and the vision for what comes next as Türkiye looks to expand its large-scale nuclear ambitions beyond its first plant.

12:10 - 13:00

SMRs, expanding nuclear to industrial users: Türkiye’s readiness

Building on the foundations laid through its large-scale nuclear programme, this session examines Türkiye's ambitions for small modular reactors and their potential to drive industrial decarbonisation. It explores the specific applications Türkiye is targeting and the indigenous capabilities the country has developed as it seeks to position itself as an active participant in the global SMR landscape.

13:00 - 14:00

Lunch & Networking – sponsored by i-SMR Development Agency

14:00 - 15:00

How hyperscalers are reshaping nuclear projects

This session will bring together digital infrastructure and data-centre leaders who are shaping how nuclear projects are structured, financed, and delivered — through partnership models, demand-anchoring strategies, siting expectations, and pathways toward 24/7 carbon-free energy commitments.

15:00 - 16:00

Accelerating project delivery: Meeting large users demand

This session will bring forward industry perspectives on what is required to transform opportunity into real projects and programmes across delivery capacity, regulatory readiness, cross-border cooperation, supply chain mobilisation, and workforce development - with a focus on the conditions enabling the reactors needed for industrial decarbonisation.

16:00 - 16:30

Coffee Break & Networking

16:30 - 17:30

Nuclear Investment: Necessity meets opportunity

As industrial demand for nuclear energy grows, the financial community faces a defining moment. This session examines the role of financial institutions in enabling nuclear projects across the entire value chain - from early-stage development to construction and operation - and what it will take to mobilise capital at the pace and scale required to meet the timelines that large energy users need.

17:30 - 18:00

Synthesis &  Outlook: What we learned and next steps

As the programme culminates in this final session, industry leaders gather to bridge the gap between opportunity and deployment. This session distils the core themes of the workshop into an actionable framework, aligning policymakers, financiers, the nuclear community, and large energy users towards a successful, scalable, and sustainable pathway for industrial decarbonisation.
