Short History of the Plant
The Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP), located on Napot Point in Morong, Bataan Province, was conceived in the mid-1970s in response to the global oil crisis and a need for national energy security.
Construction started in 1976 and was completed in 1984 (or around that period) for a single 621 MW Westinghouse pressurised water reactor. Despite the completion of the plant, it never entered commercial operation. Today, the site remains intact, offering an opportunity for a unique visit inside a nuclear power plant.
